Welcome to Leadenham Estate’s inaugural (again) Spring Festival and Wedding Fair!
In late 2019, before any of us had heard of Covid-(ahem)19, we set in motion plans to launch Leadenham House as a venue at a wedding fair on the last Sunday on April, 2020.
In the spirit of the community events that we enjoy so much, we decided to combine it with and make it part of a Spring Festival that would become an annual event forever on the last Sunday in April.
In this way we celebrate permanence with a new tradition, looking back to historic folk roots while at the same time celebrating the new birth and fertility of spring, marriage and for us, the change and growth of a new enterprise that is as much about conserving the old (Leadenham House and her Georgian stables) as embracing and developing the future.
In early 2020 we were all engulfed by the pandemic, giving rise to tragic loss and heroic service. With the hard work and inventiveness of our partners, including TTS Media (https://www.ttsmedia.org), Amy Lauren Weddings (https://www.amylaurenweddings.co.uk) and Soken (https://soken.dev) we moved our venue launch and wedding fair online where we spent a day showcasing our wedding fair exhibitors over Instagram Live and giving virtual tours of Leadenham House, grounds and church via our website.
The inaugural Spring Festival was necessarily shelved altogether and thus we still look forward to it this coming 23rd of May.
On 20th September 2020 we brought our wedding fair back to Leadenham as part of an impromptu Autumn fair between lockdowns, but it was consequently of the Rule of Six and in view of the ongoing restrictions on and uncertain future of weddings a subdued affair.
Next year, we expect the Spring festival to take its permanent annual place on the last Sunday in April but in light of the Prime Minister’s announcements about the timetable for easing pandemic restrictions, we are holding the inaugural Spring Festival along with the third (including the virtual one) Leadenham wedding fair on the first Sunday available following the lifting of the Rule of Six for outdoor events.
The Spring Festival will include an artisan market, food, drink, music and, safety permitting, dancing. All are welcome, especially dogs, and admission is free.
